Musings of a Student

Came across something interesting as I was reading the other day. It was about the definition of the term "Middle Class". I don't think there is a set-in-stone definition for this term but the general conception would be that it consists of white-collared workers and those drawing a decent pay. What I read was how families in more rural parts of China toil to send a member of their family to university, believing that it is the key to a better life and prospects. Most of them realise that their own future is not of much promise and so they toil in the hope that the next generation can achieve something better.

And so, it suggests that the middle class should consist of those believe and have the hope that either they or their children can lead a better life (something along those lines I don't have the book with me now). Essentially, it's this hope that drives them on to do whatever it takes. Without the belief that you can actually lead a better life, there'd be despair and a lack of motivation to work towards a goal which you think is impossible to achieve. So perhaps this is what it means by visualisation, by believing you can do it before you actually do it. The only problem when you're too comfortable is that you end up procrastinating.

Oh well, a week to the big run! Hope we can all get the finisher's tee =] Time to believe that we can do it! haha
